Daniel Mayer

Community & Academy Divisions

double bass, guitar, jazz

Guitarist, bassist, and jazz performer Daniel Mayer is a distinctive artist of his generation. Mr. Mayer has performed internationally at renowned venues, including the Panama Jazz Festival, Jordan Hall, and Regattabar, and alongside artists such as Nat Adderley Jr., José Soto, Nasheet Waits, Mark Tipton, and Fortuno. He also leads his own trio.

Mr. Mayer has taught at and given masterclasses as a visiting artist through the Fundación Danilo Pérez and the Walnut Hill School for the Arts. While initially starting out on the guitar at the age of nine, Mr. Mayer eventually fell in love with the bass and resolved to pursue both instruments.

After earning his B.A. in Music and History at Bowdoin College, he went on to be awarded the Dean’s Scholarship to complete his M.M. in Jazz Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he had the privilege of studying with Cecil McBee, Frank Carlberg, and Jason Moran.
