Dr. Trevor Haughton is a music theorist with research interests in both tonal and post-tonal repertoire. He holds degrees from Colgate University (B.A.), Boston University (M.M.), and the Eastman School of Music (Ph.D.), and has extensive experience teaching written theory and aural skills in both conservatory and private settings.
Dr. Haughton believes that musicianship lies at the core of all musical activity, and that building a strong foundation gives students freedom for artistic expression in their music-making and broader intellectual pursuits. At NJAOM, he directs the theory program and enjoys seeing his students deepen their understanding of how music works.
